Lapidary of the Interior — Office of the Primary Record

The Lapidary keeps the record. The record has, until now, been kept by the Lapidary alone. This document describes the circumstance under which a person outside the Lapidary may be entered into it.

What is conveyed

The Lapidary has been conducting expeditions into the interior — the space the fragments open onto when they enter the liquid state. The interior has been partially mapped using the Lapidary's coordinate system. Volumes that have been surveyed may be released, and the mineral rights to a specific volume conveyed by formal deed, recorded in the registry, and sealed with the Lapidary's mark in black wax.

The conveyance is real in that it is recorded. What the rights entitle the holder to, in practical terms, depends on what the interior yields, which remains undetermined. The Lapidary records the conveyance. It does not promise the yield.

To register a claim is to become a member

There is no separate act of membership. A claimant is a member. The registry of deeds is the register of members. The Lapidary keeps one list, and the holder of a claim is on it.

Claims are released only for volumes the Lapidary has surveyed. Coordinates become available as expeditions return. The Lapidary does not announce a total, because the interior is vast and the map is incomplete. When a volume is released, it is released. When it is claimed, it is claimed.

The registry, the available coordinates, and the conveyance are kept at the Office of the Primary Record.
